Dub/Dubbed/Dubbing: Transferring recorded material to a new medium.

ENG: Electronic News Gathering. A term coined the the 1970’s when news switched from film to video. It revolutionized TV news when the technology made media delivery fast or immediate. Today the term applies to most video field production.

Field Production: Videotaping outside of a studio environment.

Internet Formats: The main formats are RealPlayer, Windows Media, and QuickTime.

Natural Sound: A dedicated audio channel that records the immediate sound of a moment being videotaped. For example: The natural sound of a camera set up next to a river would be the sound of water flowing. The exception to this is there could be overriding sound from a louder source (freeway, industry, etc.) that drowns out the natural sound of the river.

Post Production: Editing videotape and dubbing to a specific format.

Raw Footage: The original unedited video.

Soundbites: Short 10-25 second audio/video clips from a interview, or natural sound source that make a point.
